Hip-Hop & Tap
Karen Kaye started dancing at the Little Dance Studio under the direction of Sandra Little Barnett where she studied tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, and Bollywood. Karen was a member of the Jazz Kids Dance Company and attended Project Dance in New York City where she performed her original solo choreography “Ordinary Miracle” in Times Square. She continued at Mercyhurst Preparatory High School where she studied under Maryanne Majer-Dombrowski, and then attended Lake Erie College graduating with a BFA in dance under the guidance of Chris DiCello and Lisa DeCato. She also had the opportunity to work with many choreographers including Cha-Lee Chang of eDance Company NYC, Helanius Wilkins of EdgeWorks Dance Theater, Bill Wade of Inlet Dance Company, Habib Iddrisu, and Travis Gatling. Ms. Kaye also holds a Master of Science degree in Secondary English Education and a Master of Education degree in Reading Education. She currently works as a reading specialist for the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit. She is also a teacher for the Achievement Center’s Reading Now program. Karen is excited to begin her second season with the Erie Dance Conservatory.
